The latest to join the campaign aimed at battling the alarmingly increased rate of skin bleaching in the country, rebranded as “skin toning”, is Blaq Africa GH, a new modelling agency making waves in the industry.

Engaging in a photo shoot, the models of the agency came up with poses that revealed their natural skin while lending total support for the campaign.

In an interview with MIKSD Multimedia, Ms. Eugenia Kwaati Asare, a model with Blaq Africa GH, expressed her total disapproval of skin bleaching. She said, “Bleaching has a lot of effects on the person both physically and emotionally. At the initial stages, you will find nothing wrong with it but when you begin to feel its side effects, largely health related, you will harbor a lot of regrets.”

“Bleaching means wearing off the outer layer of the skin,” Ms. Antwi stressed. “We are future leaders and we must educate the generation that will take up leadership in the near future against acts that will ruin our lives. What will we teach our children about true African beauty when we have lost our black skin to bleaching?” She asked.

Apart from propagating the word through social media, she said her agency looks at being peer educators who will use all available platforms to educate the youth against bleaching whilst revealing its vast effects.
