After years of its successful operations in Ghana, Ghana’s premiere and award winning online food ordering and delivery platform Hellofood has since June 23, 2016 moved to join a larger family - the Jumia family, formerly known as the Africa Internet Group.

Hellofood Wins Mobile App of The Year Again

For the second year in a row, Hellofood has won at the Ghana Information Technology & Telecom Awards, formerly known as the Ghana Telecom Awards.

In the category for ‘Best Mobile App of the year’, where OLX, Tonaton, Jumia, SlydePay and Hellofood where nominated, the online food ordering platform gained the upper hand.
During the event, that took place at the newly built Kempinski Hotel in Accra, 44 awards were given out to the change makers and leaders of the telecom, IT and e-banking sector.

Sofiène Marzouki, Managing Director of Hellofood Ghana, expressed his gratitude upon winning his second consecutive award: “I am honored to collect the award for the second time. Hellofood Ghana Begins Bicycle Delivery


Hellofood has become the first e-commerce business in Ghana to introduce the use of bicycle for food delivery.

In February 2016, the food delivery market place begun a test on how efficient it will be to use bicycles to deliver orders made by costumers through the Hellofood app. Costumers in and around Osu were the first to experience the bicycle delivery.

Receiving an overwhelming positive response from clients, Hellofood Ghana in May has begun a large scale use of bicycles to deliver clients’ orders made from restaurants close to their place of residence.

Sharing more light on the use of bicycles for delivery, Mr. Sofiene Marzouki, Country Managing Director of Hellofood Ghana explained that the decision to adopt bicycle delivery became necessary considering the rise in cost of living. With the continuous increase in the price of fuel in Ghana, it has become necessary to explore other media to make life much easier. “We always place our clients first, and do not want to increase their financial burden, knowing the economic hardship facing most Ghanaians,” he said. He assured clients of prompt and safe delivery of their meal.

With the adoption of the bicycle delivery system, Hellofood Ghana is expected to provide jobs for about 30 more young people in Accra.
Hellofood is the first food ordering and delivery platform in Ghana and the app is available on both android and IOS.

SKINNED TO PREMIERE AT SILVERBIRD

“Skinned” a movie that seeks to educate, about the effects of skin bleaching, as well as entertain its audience, is set to be premiered at the Silverbird cinemas in the Accra Mall and West Hills Mall on Friday, June 10, 2016.

Directed by LisaRaye McCoy, “Skinned” is a character-driven drama about a young lady, Jolie, whose insecurities about her skin color, misconception about beauty, and search for romance causes her to bleach her skin beyond recognition, the catalyst to a series of health issues she encounters. The docu drama stars Jasmine Burke (Drum Line 2), Brad James (Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse), Ghallywood’s celebrated actor, Van Vicker and a host of other actors and actresses.

“Skinned,” a 1 Hour, 30 minutes long movie, is a Studio 11 films production jointly produced by Dr. Clarice Kulah, Lotten Yeaney, Sharon Tomlinson and Van Vicker.

Tickets for the premiere sell at GHs 30 at the Silverbird Cinemas at the Accra Mall and West Hills Mall.

Hellofood wins GHANA TELECOM AWARD

#FreeFacebook Launched

At a fun filled event held at the forecourt of Accra Mall, Airtel Ghana launched its new product, #FreeFacebook on Airtel. The new product allows Airtel users free access to Facebook and some web pages. The well-attended event witnessed a couple of performances and the audience receiving a lot of giveaways.  
In a televised message, Madam Lucy Quist, the MD of Airtel Ghana, exhibited a lot excitement at the launch of the new product. She said that Facebook is the most visited site in Ghana and number one place for business people thus, the reason for the company being proud to offer Facebook at no fee to its customers. She also informed the public that aside free Facebook, Airtel was also offering other web pages that hold a lot of information to the public for free.

Madam Quist encouraged the public to grab Airtel sim cards so as to enjoy the experience the company was offering.

In a post on his page, Mark Zuckerberg, inventor of Facebook posted, “Today we're launching Internet.org in Ghana, giving people on the Airtel network access to free basic internet services for education, health, jobs and communication.
Right now only about 12% of people in Ghana are connected to the internet, but connectivity is already improving people's lives and communities.
By connecting everyone, we hope to unlock even more opportunities for Ghana.”

Expressing excitement for the feat achieved, Mark Zuckerberg added, “Ghana is the fifth country we’ve connected through Internet.org after Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Colombia.
Thank you to our community for your support and for pushing to bring Internet.org to more countries as we continue on our path to connect the whole world.”
