#FreeFacebook Launched

At a fun filled event held at the forecourt of Accra Mall, Airtel Ghana launched its new product, #FreeFacebook on Airtel. The new product allows Airtel users free access to Facebook and some web pages. The well-attended event witnessed a couple of performances and the audience receiving a lot of giveaways.  
In a televised message, Madam Lucy Quist, the MD of Airtel Ghana, exhibited a lot excitement at the launch of the new product. She said that Facebook is the most visited site in Ghana and number one place for business people thus, the reason for the company being proud to offer Facebook at no fee to its customers. She also informed the public that aside free Facebook, Airtel was also offering other web pages that hold a lot of information to the public for free.

Madam Quist encouraged the public to grab Airtel sim cards so as to enjoy the experience the company was offering.

In a post on his page, Mark Zuckerberg, inventor of Facebook posted, “Today we're launching Internet.org in Ghana, giving people on the Airtel network access to free basic internet services for education, health, jobs and communication.
Right now only about 12% of people in Ghana are connected to the internet, but connectivity is already improving people's lives and communities.
By connecting everyone, we hope to unlock even more opportunities for Ghana.”

Expressing excitement for the feat achieved, Mark Zuckerberg added, “Ghana is the fifth country we’ve connected through Internet.org after Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Colombia.
Thank you to our community for your support and for pushing to bring Internet.org to more countries as we continue on our path to connect the whole world.”


Aside being the Ghanaian company with the largest following on Facebook and the first to offer free Facebook, Airtel also becomes the first network to offer pages such as Jobberman, Tonaton Wikipedia, Accu Weather and GhanaWeb for free on internet.org.

UOS EMBARKS ON CHARITY PROGRAMME AT X’MAS

University of Secrets, popularly known for hit events Shots on Shots, Chalewote Party and Chicken and Wine, are gearing up to embark on a project dubbed “UoS Yibiky3 Outreach” The charity programme is marked to take place during the yuletide season and is the groups own way of giving back to society after a long year, which they describe as one filled with countless blessing.

Although no identified benefactors of the programme have been named yet, the Chief Executive Officer and Administrator of the group, known in social media circles as Joel Skinny Tieku Nartey, has given indications of his outfit’s desire to put a smile on the faces of some less privileged individuals in society.

In a post being circulated mostly on Facebook and WhatsApp, the Administrator is quoted saying, "we spend huge money on ‪#‎parties‬, ‪#‎clubbing‬,tripping and other stuffs to make ourselves happy so why not on others ....help others and God would even bless you 1000 times

WHEN AND WHERE ARE WE CROSSING OVER?

December beckons and entertainments lover are in expectant moods to mark their calendars with events that will grace the last month of the year. Nonetheless, Cross Over, an event which has been produced in the last three years successfully, seems to be one of the most anticipated events for entertainment lovers this year.

In the past year, the trip event, recorded a large number of patrons. This year, organizers may have to be braced for a larger number of patrons since the interest in the December Star event seems to be growing widely.

Speaking to a patron who was at the last event, she said that she was in no way going to miss this year’s edition of CrossOver and was expecting something off the hook from the organizers of the event.

It is speculated that season three of CrossOver will be slated for the 26th of December although the venue is not yet known.

TOURING GH TO ROCK VOLTA


Touring GH on the 23rd of August this year will storm Afadjato and Wli Water, a trip which promises to be the best the tourism crew has ever given its followers.

The trip expected to be adventurous, fun packed and breath taking will see patrons converge at the Accra Mall and chauffeured to the destinations, both in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Each tourist is expected to pay an amount of GH₵65.00 which covers meals, transportation and fees at the sites.

Organizers, Touring GH, have also assured patrons of their security and availability of a medical staff whilst promising a well-organized and a memorable trip.

Afadjato, located in the Agumatsa Range near the villages of Liati Wote and Gbledi, is the highest peak at an elevation of 885 metres.

Wli Falls, also located near the Agumatsa rainforest, cascades from a height of 60 to 80 meters, the highest of its kind in West Africa.

Both sites are located on the border between Ghana and Togo in the Volta Region.

“SAMINI LIGHTS A MILLION LIVES” LAUNCHED

Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Emmanuel Andrews Samini known in showbiz as Samini has launched a solar project aimed at distributing one million solar lanterns mostly to deprived communities in the country for free in Accra.

 The project, being executed by the Million Lives Foundation, was out-doored as “Samini lights a million lives” at the launch yesterday. The launch took place at the 2006 MOBO Award winner’s restaurant, Dancestardom.

Speaking at the launch, Samini said that the project was meant to promote the use of solar energy in the country.

The foundation, which is partnering with some companies including Ecotech Green Limited, to build an assembling plant that would spearhead the distribution and by extension create jobs, was born out of the artiste’s dream to establish an enterprise where he could use sunlight to generate light for use.

He noted that the lanterns would be distributed mostly to communities in the northern part of the country that do not have access to electricity. The distribution will be preceded with a national sensitization concert that will be done in every city in the country.

Throwing more light on the beneficiaries of the project, Samini said, “Beside these communities, the project is also targeting schools and medical centres across the country to assist them with light whenever there is a power-cut.

The project is part of activities to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Linda hit maker in the music industry

The Executive Director for the project, Mr. Paul Boateng noted that the lantern was durable and comes with a two year warranty and it was designed to also use cell battery in event that there is no sunlight for days.
